ok, this was actually my first try at the cluster stitch beret, but I used a 5 mm hook and wasn't happy with the size of the crown or the drape of the fabric.. too firm for a beret, not slouchy enough. instead, I doubled up the yarn to stitch a bill and made it a newsboy cap! I love the texture of this stitch!
